I have put together some of my favorite ideas and activities for April. There are ideas to cover all areas of the curriculum. I have included things for April Fool, Spring, Easter, Earth Day, several activities for studying plants and lots of other fun things. I hope that you enjoy using them as much as I have over the years. All patterns are included with PDF files that make it very easy to copy and use in your classroom. April Calendar
Two different calendars are provided for children to complete. One calendar has dotted lined numbers to help students. The second one only has the first and last number. This is for students who are able to write numbers from 1-30. The PDF files are clear copies of the calendar. I apologize for the poor sample calendar shown here.
Spring Bingo
Bingo is a great game to play for developing listening skills, vocabulary building and small motor skills. Students cut out the pictures and make their own unique Bingo card. It's a great game to play all during the spring months. Picture card and blank grid are provided in a PDF file.
Spring Bee Basket
The Runaway Bunny
This is a great follow-up activity after reading "The Runaway Bunny." The blank story writing paper is given with a book cover in a PDF file to make a class book with your students.
Bunny Hat
Bunny hats are made with pastel colors of construction paper for any Easter or Spring celebration!
Spring Lambs
Make spring lambs to celebrate spring. These make a cute bulletin board and are great to save for memory books.
Pussy-Willow Art
Directions and four different shaped vase patterns are given to make these Pussy-Willows with your students.
Patterned Egg Homework
Directions, patterns, and ideas are given for this egg decorating home project. A letter to the parents is also provided giving directions and ideas to help decorate the egg.

My Little Seed Book
Another fun project for a plant unit is making a little book and illustrating with your students.
Parts of a Seed Diagram
Making a diagram of seed is a great way to teach the parts of a seed. All of the patterns and directions are provided in a PDF file to make the diagram of a seed with your students.
Lima Bean Book
This is a great follow-up activity to go along with the above diagram of the lima bean seed. It is written in a Brown Bear format to help students learn how a plant develops from a seed to bean plant. It is written in simple, emergent reader level text to make it easy for student to read and track.
Rain Book
This is a emergent reader that repeats "the" on each page to reinforce high frequency words. Students illustrate and write one word on each page. Copies can easily be made with each page in PDF files.
Parts of a Plant Paper Bag Project
Kids love making this paper bag diagram. It's a fun way to teach the parts of a flower.
Parts of a Plant Bulletin Board
This is a bulletin board that we made for our plant unit. Directions, patterns and bulletin board title banner are given that make it super easy to copy and complete with your students.
Easter Cards
Make a cute Easter card! An insert for writing and illustrating the inside is also provided in a PDF file.
Ducky Easter Card
This is a cute little ducky card that is great for parents or to share with friends.
Bunny Treat Bag
Kids love making these fun little Bunny treat bags for Spring. You can fill them with grass and eggs. They are also great for party favor bags, too!
Spring Egg Book
This is a six page student made book that reinforces the high frequency word "is" on each page. Students illustrate each page and add a word. Such a fun way to work on high frequency words!
Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd with a fun clean up the earth activity.
3-D Daisy with Photo
This is a fun art project that is great way to use photos of students. Or, just use a contrasting circle if you don't want to use photos.
