Holiday Patterning Tree

This is a blank tree that is sent home with the children to decorate with different patterns.   A letter explaining this project is sent home for the parents to assist.   We received so many beautiful, unique trees last year.  Detailed directions, letter to the parents and patterns are included in the Favorite December Ideas.  Click on the tree for more information.

These ornaments were made with purchased plastic ornaments.  These are easily found at many stores and very inexpensive.  We used white,  acrylic paint to paint each child's hand.  We put the ornament in each child's hand and had them gently squeeze.  After it was dry, we had them decorate each finger and thumb as a snowman.  We used paint type markers for the children to decorate the ornament.  Sharpie markers tend to have trouble writing on the sick surface.  You can use a pipe cleaner or holiday type cord as a hanger.
