Father's Day Ideas

Father's Day Card

Click on the pattern to enlarge.  We used old wallpaper samples to trace this pattern for the shirt.  Make cuts on the side and fold these pieces in to make a collar. Glue the points down to the shirt.  We give the children a pattern for the tie and they glue this to the front of the shirt.  The size of the shirt is 6x8 1/2 inches.  They add Happy Father's Day to the front of the card and write a message inside the card.  The red card is a 12x18 piece of construction paper.

Father's Day Card

This idea was given to me by Kerry in British Columbia.  The card is made on a piece of 9x12 blue construction paper and folded in half.  We gave each child a printed copy of the paper/  They added the yellow center of the flower and glued the peanuts, green stems and leaves on for the flower.  We used white glue to hold the peanuts on.  They will need to use a bit extra for the heavy weight of the peanuts. They added their own message inside the card.

Donuts for Dad

We planned a special morning with each child making an invitation to their dad to come to school for donuts.  We made coffee for the dads and served juice to the children.  We had it at the beginning of the day to try to get dads to come in before going to work.  Most of the dads were able to attend and we were very pleased with the turnout.  We did not plan any special program since it was very close to the end of they year and we had just had our end of the year program.  Each child enjoyed showing dad the room and sharing books with him.  It was a fun day and a great opportunity for the kids to honor their dad!
