Applesauce recipe

6-7 tart apples

1 cup water

1/4-1/2 cup sugar (honey may also be used)

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

pinch of salt

Cook all ingredients under tender.  Mash the apples with a potato masher or electric mixer.

 

Chunky Applesauce

10 cooking apples -- diced
1/2 cup water
3/4 cup sugar
ground cinnamon -- to taste

In crock-pot combine apples and water. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hrs or until apples are very soft. Add sugar and cook on low another 30 minutes. Sprinkle with cinnamon at serving time. Makes 4 cups. For smooth applesauce, puree cooked apples.

 

Stuffed Apples

Ingredients:

One apple per person

Butter or margarine

Brown sugar

Optional:  raisins, coconut, chopped pecans or walnuts, whipped cream

Directions:

Core the apples with an apple corer; sprinkle the inside of the apple with brown sugar.

Place apples in a greased baking dish.

Stuff the apples with whatever the student likes.

Pour in enough warm water to cover the bottom of the baking dish.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes.

Baste the apples with juice from the dish twice during baking.

 

Dried Apples

 

One small apple for each student

Directions: 

Core the apples with an apple corer.

Thread string through the cored apples; tie knots,

Hang the apples from a central string.

When the apples have dried, remove the strings and eat!

Apple Smiles

Slice apple into wedges.  Spread peanut butter on one side of each apple slice.  Place tiny marshmallows on top of the peanut butter of one slice.  Top with another apple slice, peanut butter side down.  Gently squeeze together for a SMILE!  :)

 

 Carmel Apples

1.  Push a craft stick into an apple

2.  Melt caramels in a pan.

3,  Dip the apple in the melted caramel.

4.  Roll the apple in chopped peanuts.

5.  Let cool.  YUM!
